The Flash 2x20 Recap: "Rupture"

Rupture.
Zoom's back in Earth-1 and intends to take over Central City, so Barry and Wells develop an extremely dangerous plan to stop him. While Joe thinks Barry can handle it, Harry is very opposed to Barry risking his life again. Cisco's also meeting his brother Dante's doppelgänger, Rupture, when he vibes him. He's seeking justice for Reverbs death. Iris also opens up about something during the episode. Lots going on in tonight's episode, so here's how it went down.

The Debate Over Barry's Speed.
Using a hologram system, Cisco, Iris, and Barry are going after criminals without The Flash being there. This way, the cops can get to the criminals, but Barry obviously isn't actually fighting against them. Wells has a different idea regarding the Flash. He wants to recreate the particle accelerator explosion that is contained. He knows how everything needs to work using Wells' older reports.

While Joe believes the decision is Barry's and that he can handle it, Henry's concerned that Barry may end up in a coma again, or worse. Barry walks in on their argument and says that this decision is entirely his own and he knows that they all care about him, but he needs this to be his own choice.

Dad's visit.
Barry goes to visit Henry in his log cabin using a car and he tells him that he no longer has his powers because he gave them up to save Wally. Henry's missed a lot, so Barry basically gives him a quick rundown. He mentions Wells' idea and he's against Barry getting struck by lightning again. Barry feels like every time something good happens, it's taken away, and maybe it's time something's done about that. Henry also thinks that maybe he'll move back for good.

Iris' Feelings.
After Barry goes off to think, Iris goes after him to talk. Barry thought having his dad there would make things easier, but it hasn't. Iris doesn't know what she'd do if she has go through not having Barry around again. She tells him that he always has her to come home to and she's been thinking about the idea of them a lot lately. She knows what the future says, but she doesn't care if he's the Flash or not. She just wants to see if she has a future with him. Not the Flash. Barry Allen, if that's what he wants, too.

Zoom's Return.
Zoom shows up at CCPD and orders everyone to tell the entire city to obey him. Because of Caitlin, no one gets killed, at least not right now. Wells knows Zoom's plan and is worried that the exact same thing that happened on Earth-2 will soon happen to Earth-1. Meanwhile, Zoom is still keeping Caitlin around (albeit handcuffed), but she's company for him and he also claims to see a darkness inside of her. After informing her that Rupture will attack Jitters, Caitlin gets her hands on a phone from a box under one of the desks in CCPD and alerts the team of the attack.

Zoom, obviously unhappy after finding out what Caitlin did, goes to Jitters and kills Rupture (because he failed) and some of the police officers. Being that the news is there, the public also gets a message. The Flash is gone. They have to obey him. If they don't, well... watch out. He doesn't hurt any of the Team, but threatens that if they try anything against him again, no one will be able to save them.

Rupture.
After seeing Dante in a vibe, Cisco goes to see him to see what's been new. Their relationship is still the same. They're distant. While they're leaving the bar, Dante's Earth-2 doppelgänger shows up and it's time to meet Rupture. He wants Cisco dead because he thinks that Vibe killed Reverb. Cisco's also got to figure out how to explain this all to his brother. He tells him about how he went to another earth and how he's a metahuman. There really is no easy way to explain these things, is there?

Being that Barry decides to not go through with the particle accelerator explosion at this point, they're going to have to face off against Rupture without the Flash. Using the hologram system, they're able to disorient Rupture enough for CCPD to take him down.

After Cisco and Dante both witness what happens, they agree that they want things to change. They're brothers and they want their relationship to be one of brothers, not strangers. So their relationship should be closer beyond this point.

The Beginning of Jesse Quick and Kid Flash.
While Zoom's in town, Wells and Joe want to make sure Wally and Jesse are safe, so they'll be staying in one of those hidden rooms in STAR Labs. They both want to help, but they can't find a way out of the room. Jesse's pretty "quick" at solving problems, so she'll see what she can do. And, Jesse's able to open the door and her and Wally are through, just as the Particle Accelerator is exploding.

As they're running away from the explosion, Jesse and Wally are hit and it seems that we'll be getting Kid Flash and Jesse Quick faster than we expected, which I am super excited for.

Getting His Speed Back.
Initially, Barry was hesitant, but after seeing what Zoom did in Jitters, Barry decides that he wants his powers back. He needs to stop Zoom. So, the particle accelerator explosion will occur. They're creating their own lightning since there isn't a storm outside. So, into the contraption Barry goes and onto the roof Cisco goes to conduct lightning. Before the machine starts, Iris tells him that no matter what happens, it won't change the way she feels about him, and Barry tells his dad that being the Flash is the best version of himself he can be and he has to do this.

And the explosion begins, and then, as the process is occurring, Barry just... disappears. Completely vanishes. What. An. Ending.

Next week on The Flash, the Team is trying to find Barry's location, wherever the force landed him, and bring him back home, so we'll see how that goes down then. These next few episodes leading up to the finale should be great, so I'm very excited. Great, great episode tonight. Lots going on, but so many new and awesome things happening.

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on The CW.

The Flash 2x19 Recap: "Back To Normal"

Before this recap begins I want to apologize for not posting any of the recaps I usually do this past week. I was completely exhausted and didn't even have the capacity to watch any of the shows, so these are still my original reactions. When I don't have the capacity to watch the shows I completely love, you know I have to be pretty tired. This week should be a lot better so you'll be seeing six recaps this week, two per show, since I'm playing a bit of catchup.

Back To Normal.
Griffin Grey is making an appearance on The Flash this week and kidnaps Harrison Wells, mistaking him for the Earth-1 Harrison Wells. He wants to be cured from his current condition of super strength. Meanwhile, Barry's back to normal and Wally's got some questions about The Flash.

Human Again.
Regular day's in Central City aren't so regular for Barry anymore, especially since he doesn't have his speed anymore. He actually has to wait on the coffee line, take the bus, dress himself in normal time, and do everything just like everyone else does. Without his speed, he can't even try and save Caitlin.

Barry struggles with not being able to use his powers and while he's looking at the Flash suit, he talks to Iris and tells her how she was the first person he saved in the suit. He felt like he missed so much after Eddie, but he knew he could save her, and when he did, it felt like they were the only two in the world. Suit or no suit, that guy is and will always be Barry Allen because that's the kind of person he is. Iris makes it a point to make sure he knows this.

Wells' Search.
Wells got a hold of Jesse's location and is going after her. He should be leaving with help, but there's no one to help him right now, not with Barry's powers gone. Jesse's got her own place with a roommate and she refuses to leave with her father. The danger she's in is because of Wells and she wants no part of that. The line that hurt the most? She may be afraid of Zoom, but she's just as afraid of him. Ouch. After she gets word of the accident, she heads back to Central City and blames herself for what happened.

Zoom's Lair.
Caitlin's trapped in Zoom's lair and refuses to talk to him in the mask. Hunter tells her that he won't hurt her because he cares too much, but Caitlin doesn't care for him or trust him. He's keeping her with him because he loves her and feels that eventually she'll grow to feel the same way. (Nothing creepy about that.) He does tell her to make herself at home, though, so she's able to wander around the lair where she comes across the man in the iron mask and her own doppelgänger, Killer Frost.

Killer Frost doesn't know why Zoom needs her, but she wants out. If Caitlin helps her get out, she'll help Caitlin get home. It's a team up of the doppelgängers. Their mothers are quite similar, both very cold, and Killer Frost became Killer Frost after she was hit with the black matter from the Particle Accelerator. Using her knowledge of science, she connects some things that should heat up the glass enough so that Caitlin can break it, and she does.

That deal they had goes down the drain as soon as Killer Frost is out. She attacks Caitlin and nearly kills her, but then Zoom comes to save her and instead puts the ice crystal through Killer Frost instead. He gives her a firm warning to not try that again. Caitlin insists that she wants to leave, causing flashbacks to Zoom's mother's death, and Zoom tells her that he'll take her home with the plan to conquer more Earths, starting with Earth-1.

Wally's Questions.
Wally's put multiple events together where The Flash has been around and either himself, Joe, or Iris have been there, also. He knows that The Flash has some connection to the family and also knows that Joe can't tell him who he is, but he does want to meet him. Wally wants to thank him for his life. He's done reckless things in his life, but never thought he was going to die, not until Zoom took him. He truly feels he would've died if The Flash didn't save him and he needs to tell him how much that means to him. Joe makes it happen and Wally is finally able to meet and thank The Flash. He doesn't plan on wasting the chance that he's been given to live and he's very happy about being able to say this to The Flash in person.

Griffin Grey.
On his way back after his encounter with Jesse, Wells hits a man with his van, but the man isn't hurt. That's because this man is Griffin Grey, a metahuman with super strength who is after the Harrison Wells from Earth-1. He wants the power to go away because it's caused him to grow at a very fast pace. He should be 18, but instead, is growing so fast that he'll die soon at this rate.

With his abilities gone, Barry takes the field as a human with Cisco and Joe, making their attempt to save Wells from Grey. Things become a little difficult when he starts to hurl huge, heavy barrels towards them. He knocks Barry down and then ages some more right in front of him before running away. In scientific terms, the reason why this happens is because of the way his body is dealing with proteins, but in simpler terms, the more he exerts himself, the faster he ages.

Cisco and Jesse were only able to reinforce the suit just a little bit so that Barry can take some hits, or rather a hit, without his speed and abilities to recover quickly. While they're working on their own plan, Wells has created a "cure" for Griffin, but it's not a real one because there is no way to help him.

Cisco, Joe, and Barry are back at it again, this time with Barry in the suit doing some normal fighting skills instead of the speed. Barry gets punched the one time he was allowed and the is able to move out of the way enough for Griffin to exert himself enough to the point of death, and with this death, he returns to his normal age, dying as an 18 year old.

Reuniting.
Wells and Jesse are reunited and Jesse decides to live back home again. They finally talk about things and he says that his want to protect her comes from when her mother died. He swore on his life to keep her safe and when Zoom took her, it was a breaking point for him. Jesse understands why he did everything he did, but she needs to be able to have fun and live her life without worrying about him trying to save her. As long as she promises to never run away again, he promises to be the kind of father she can be proud of, and they promise that to each other.

Barry can't sleep because he doesn't know how to get Caitlin back without his powers. Wells can't help but think that he still hasn't paid for what he's done, especially after being captured from Griffin Grey. He can't forget about it, but Wells is going to help Barry get his speed back. His plan is to create another particle accelerator explosion.

Next episode on The Flash, Henry Allen's back and it's time to see what happens with this new Particle Accelerator Explosion plan. Great episode tonight, especially the scenes with Wally & Joe and Caitlin. I'm exciting to see what happens next.

The Flash airs Tuesdays @8/7c on The CW.

The Flash 2x18 Recap: "Versus Zoom"

Versus Zoom.
Barry believes his fast enough to stop Zoom with a new device and it's time to open the breaches again. After he convinces Wells, Wells reveals that Cisco has the power to reopen the breaches, which will allow them contact with Earth-2 once again and ultimately lead to Barry's face off with Zoom for the first time since knowing that Zoom is Jay. We're also learning about Zoom's origin on Earth-2 for the first time.

Hunter's Past.
Little Hunter Zolomon's life wasn't the best in the world. His father, after returning home from war, abused his mother and shot her right in front of him after giving him his helmet. The helmet would eventually become the one he would later wear as The Flash. After this happened, he was brought to an orphanage to live in since he had no other family that wanted him.

Caitlin mentions the name Hunter Zolomon to Barry and Wells overhears, and that's how the team at STAR Labs discovers all about Hunter Solomon's past. Turns out that after entering foster care, Hunter Solomon became a serial killer. He was eventually committed and given daily electroshock therapy. When Harry's Particle Accelerator explosion occurred, it created the unstoppable monster who came to be known as Zoom.

The Chase for Zoom.
With the new device that Barry attaches to his chest, Barry's going 4x faster than he's ever been. That's faster than Zoom. Now, they need to find Zoom, but Wells doesn't want to help. He promised he'd help him get faster, but not that he'd help them find a way to get to Earth-2.

Even Joe's worried about Barry taking on Zoom and going back to Earth-2. After Joe makes a comment about wondering what Wally's doppelgänger would be like, that gives Barry an idea. Cisco may be the way back to Earth-2, especially because of his doppelgänger Reverb. Cisco does have the power, but Wells goes to Joe to advise him to tell Barry that it's a bad idea. The thing is, once Barry sets his mind to it, that's that, but Joe asks Harry to go along with him because he thinks Barry's chances of defeating Zoom are higher with Wells by his side.

So, Wells goes to help Cisco and Barry open the breach, but then Cisco stops. He asks Barry to have him not open the breach before running off. When Barry sits down to talk to him, through a few Star Wars references, Cisco expresses his concern for eventually becoming "Vader." He's worried that, like his doppelgänger, learning new abilities will push him to the dark side, but Barry says that he has family behind him at STAR Labs and that he also worries about the same thing. So, we're giving this another go.

Now that everyone's aware of Hunter's past, Barry's got an idea on how to stop him. Cisco opens the breach and Zoom make his way through. Barry's faster than Zoom and he leads him to STAR Labs, into a room that pops up a cardboard image of Hunter's father, then mother. Each time, Zoom is slowed down enough for Barry to punch him and then use a different gun on him to bring him to the floor. He asked how they knew and Barry admits that he screwed up in telling Caitlin who his doppelgänger was. The Velocity 9 turning blue was the thing that told him that he was Zoom. The Darkness in Zoom pushes through and allows him to get through the chains and escape from Barry's hold.

Once Zoom has escaped, things change when Wally is kidnapped by Zoom. The way to get him back? A trade: Barry's speed for Wally. Cisco vibes to see where Wally is and if he's alive. He is, and Hunter can sense him. Cisco tells him that Barry will do it. The trade will be made.

Zoom brings Wally to STAR Labs and hands him over. Wally's now seen everyone, including his father and sister, involved, so it's safe to assume he'll have questions. Now, it's the tricky part. Let's explain how Hunter's still alive if him and Jay are the same person. Hunter's still alive because he went back in time and met another version of himself, a time remnant. He needed Barry to want to increase his speed and knew that his hatred for Zoom would fuel that. So, he goes back in time, convinces his time remnant to allow him to kill him, and that's how we are where we are. Caitlin repeats those same words Hunter's mother told his father: he's a monster. So, the whole time, Caitlin was actually dating Hunter Zolomon, who was putting on the persona of Jay. Hopefully that makes sense.

Agreeing to the deal, Barry runs out the speed force and he becomes human again. Hunter injects himself with it and becomes stronger than ever. Caitlin begs that if any of the feelings he had for her were real, that he let him go, and he does, but then takes Caitlin with him.

Wally's troubles.
Wally's no longer living on campus at school because room and board has gotten too expensive, but he doesn't want Joe to help him out and says he'll cover it on his own. Meanwhile, he'll be doing his laundry at the West household.

Joe asks Barry for help because he knows that Wally's not letting him help him and Barry points out that Wally doesn't want money for a place to live, he wants a place to live. He wants to be able to live at home with his dad for the first time, and it'll be fun with him in the house, as well. As soon as Wally finds out the surprise, he's very happy, as is Joe.

Iris' new feelings.
Last episode we saw Iris agree to go on a date with her boss, but on tonight's episode, her feelings are a bit different. She's been looking at Barry in a different way, and she knows that all signs point to them ending up together in the future. She's wondering if maybe the fact that she's ready to move on means that she's ready to move forward with Barry and take on this destiny.

So, Hunter's now got a hold of Caitlin, and next week, he'll be taking Wells, too. Without his speed, Barry will have to figure out a new way to stop Zoom before more people get hurt.

Tune in next week at 8/7c on The CW for an all new episode of The Flash.

The Flash 2x17 Recap: "Flash Back"

Flash Back.
On tonight's episode of The Flash Barry's traveling back in time to pretend to be his old self so that Dr. Harrison Wells (Eobard Thawne) can teach him how to run faster. Things don't go as smooth as he hopes an old foe shows up. We're also getting to see Eddie again since we are back before the finale of season one occurred.

To the past we go. Barry's mad that he trusted someone and they betrayed him yet again. He's more determined than ever to get faster and defeat Zoom. Caitlyn tests discover that Zoom, the Flash, and Reverse Flash all move their legs at the same speed, but their feet are most likely touching the ground less, propelling them forward faster.

Wally's success in his engine project by reading the journals of past engine designs like Porsche, etc. gives Barry the idea to go back in time and talk to the old Harrison Wells. Current Wells is against it because it can alter the timeline, but Barry believes he'll be able to do it successfully by impersonating his old self. He knows what time he's going to, what was going on in that timeline, and everything they do and do not know at that time. So, he's well prepared.

Back to the time of the Pied Piper we go as Barry travels back, but along the way he passes a time wraith who'll show up in a little bit. He also lands in the same area as one of his showdowns with Hartley, which isn't the best start, but it actually works since he remembers what happens and is also able to take out his old self and replace his emblem. Operation Future Barry impersonating past Barry is a go.

Using the things he already knows, Barry points out that Hartley might have bombs in his ears and they get those removed so he can't escape. Barry explains that the idea came from the fact that something was interfering with his ear piece, which isn't a bad explanation.

Wells and Barry discuss his wanting to get faster and he shows the algorithm he's been trying to figure out, but they're interrupted when the Time Wraith shows up at CCPD. The Flash goes to help and that's when Barry sees Eddie for the first time since everything happened. When Barry gets to talk to him, past Joe realizes that something's up with him and he's acting weird. He attributes it with Barry having told Iris he loves her, but we all know it's a different reason.

Wells (Thawne) is also suspicious of him and calls him into another room and knocks him out. He locks him to the chair in his secret room and when Barry doesn't react when he moves fast, Thawne knows that this isn't his Barry. Barry also tries to phase out of the cuffs, which past Barry hasn't been taught yet. Now that Barry's there and is asking how to get faster, Thawne realizes that his plan fails. Barry has a plan, though. He says that Wells did defeat him and went back to his time, but Barry ended up in the past and a singularity formed. That's why he's there. Thawne realizes that he doesn't need this Barry, this Barry from the future, but Barry says that if he kills him, the Barry from the current period will definitely defeat Thawne because there's a hidden letter, so he has to help him. Smart move, Barry, smart move.

Cisco wants to know the frequency of Hartley's gauntlets, but the Time Wraith shows up to Star Labs chasing Caitlyn to the cells where Cisco and Hartley are and actually inside the cell the three go to stay safe from the Wraith. Luckily, Hartley uses his gauntlets and is able to drive the Wraith away.

Past Barry finally woke up. The tranquilizer didn't last that long. So now, Cisco and Caitlyn also know that there are two Barry's. Cisco's flipping out because he can't figure out what's what and how things will effect the timeline, so future Barry has to stop talking. And in order to get rid of the Time Wraith, future Barry has to go back.

Wells gives Barry a drive with everything he needs to know to run faster. He can finally go home and if the drive doesn't work, he's coming back. Before leaving, he tells Cisco that Hartley knows where Ronnie is. The emblems are switched and future Barry heads back home along with the Time Wraith. Cisco thought that they figured out how to stop it because he told past Cisco and Caitlyn to figure it out, but their device doesn't work. Luckily, Hartley's there to help out and he uses his gauntlets to defeat it. Low frequency, high intensity is the key. Hartley's very friendly and he says that if they need anything, to give him a call. (Glad they left it open for him to come back.) And it seems as though they're friends now.

Iris' new romance and her old love. At their family dinner, Iris decided to tell Barry about her date with her boss and how qualities about Scott remind her of Eddie. Barry tells her that Eddie would want her to be happy and that only she knows when she's going to be able to move on, but she can't close herself off to something great during the process.

While in the past, Barry asks Eddie to record a video for Iris' birthday even though it's two months away. He tells him to say whatever he would if it was the last thing he could ever say to her. (Cue the tears.) Iris doesn't know that Barry went back in time, but Barry shows her the video saying that it was from something he was putting together last year. This was such a good scene and the message was so nice, especially for Iris to see and hear.

Back to the present. At first it seems that the file won't work, but after Barry bangs his fist down, it does. All of his information is there. Actual Harrison Wells is still looking for Jesse and angry that he can't find her. He's afraid he's made the wrong decisions, but Barry says that he just needs to trust that he's made there right ones.

So, sometimes you need to revisit your past in order to move forward as Barry says. And now he has what he needs to go after Zoom. Unfortunately, that won't be for another three weeks. In three weeks we'll see Barry come face to face with Zoom again and we'll be learning more about Hunter Zolomon. As for tonight, I really enjoyed the episode and thought it was a great one. It was a joy seeings Rick Cosnett (Eddie) and Andy Mientus (Hartley) reprise their rolls. Hopefully we'll see them again at some point in the future.

The Flash returns April 19th at 8/7c on The CW.

The Flash 2x16 Recap: "Trajectory"

Trajectory.
A new female speedster is in Central City and she's up to no good. Iris also finds herself at odds with her new boss, but things change when flirtations begin between the two. Who is this new speedster? Turns out her name is the title of this episode. Here's what went down.

Barry's been trying to get faster in order to stop Zoom, but he hasn't been successful. Everyone's tired, so, to take a break, they decide to all go out to a club. Despite Wells' reluctance, Jesse goes along with them, but she has to wear a wristband to keep her safe. The whole gang's around having a good time with music and shots, the usual. Cisco & Caitlin are dancing the night away and Iris & Barry are joking about them dancing like that at their wedding. They talk about how it's funny that their doppelgängers are married and how they're married in the future, and they also speculate as to what their doppelgängers are doing right now on Earth-2. Iris says it's probably their version of "Netflix & Chill." The party and conversation is broken up when Trajectory, the newest speedster in the picture, crashes through.

Problem is, people think this new speedster is actually The Flash and that he's gone Rogue, robbing citizens of Central City and Iris' new boss wants an article about it. Her views on The Flash clash with her boss', but in order to convince him, she says that they should go get coffee. Now that was a change in their interaction. He thought that going to coffee meant they were going on a date, but she didn't intend for it to be that. They do resolve this by the end of the episode, where he sees that Iris was right, and she admits that she was caught off guard the other night. She's not against going on a date with him, so we'll most likely see more of this relationship in the future.

Back at the lab, Caitlin tells the team about V9 and how she thinks it's still deadly since it's not perfected yet. They're interrupted when the meta-signal goes off and Barry's back out trying to get to this stranger meta. He gets his ass handed to him, as he says himself, and he says that the suit was definitely made by someone who worked in a lab. Caitlin thinks it's a woman named Eliza Harmon who works at Mercury Labs that helped her with V9 who created this new speedster. She denies any involvement, but we find out that she's actually Trajectory, and she's being commanded by a voice in her head. She wants to get more, so her next place of attack is STAR Labs.

In the scene where Caitlin was looking at information on Eliza Harmon, Barry snagged the V9 vile that was nearby, but after talking to Wells, he doesn't take it and shatter, instead. Not too long after, Trajectory shows up and puts him right into a cell where he can't get out, while she goes to the rest of his friends and he can't help. She's holding everyone at gun point until she gets her V9. Safe to say she's insane. They give her what she wants but she doesn't believe it's not laced with anything, so she tests it on Jesse, who goes into shock as a result. Barry's let out of his cage and they have to do a blood transfusion in order to get it out of her system.

Wells gave Trajectory exactly what she wanted in order to keep Jesse safe and that concerns her because she believes he needs to have concern for the lives of other people. Wells could learn a thing or two from his daughter.

Trajectory's decided to attack a bridge and it's time for The Flash to run in and save the day. Luckily, Barry gets everyone off it before it crashes to the ground. It's up to Barry to test out the jump he's been trying to nail for the past week in order to get to her and he's successful in doing so, hitting her hard enough so that she goes down. Barry talks some sense into her, telling her how the V9 is killing her and that this isn't her; this isn't Eliza. She needs to let them help her and he knows what it feels like to want to be the best, but it's destroying her. She doesn't listen and injects herself with yet another vile of V9. She's too fast that Barry won't catch her and she runs off, but this time, her lightning is blue and the speed force is too strong that she dies. Her entire being is completely consumed by the speed force.

Jesse decides that it's about time for her to go out into the world and discover what the world has to offer. She thanks him for everything he's taught her and asks that he not come looking for her. We see her getting on a bus to Opal City. I was wondering why both Eliza and Zoom's speed force is both blue, yet Zoom can survive with it, while Eliza was killed by it. While they're discussing it, they realize he's dying and that's why he needs Barry's speed. Barry's speed is a way for him to be cured. And that leads them to also put two and two together that Jay was also sick. Icing on the cake is when Cisco admits that he's vibed a few times in the episode and each time it's been about Zoom and has occurred when he was near Jay's helmet. Barry smashes the case and hands the helmet to Cisco and this time, he's in the same dark room with Zoom, but now Zoom takes his mask off and the face underneath is none other than Jay Garrick's, or Hunter Zolomon. I have a feeling Zoom's still Jay's doppelgänger, but obviously the Team doesn't know that yet and even us, the audience, can't be sure about it, yet. You can imagine Barry's emotions, especially since now it appears he's been betrayed for a second time, and he runs off to the edge of the cliff where the episode began and screams out in pure rage and frustration. He's more determined than ever to stop Zoom now.

Next week the one and only Pied Piper will be back as Barry travels back in time to get Dr. Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne to teach him how to run faster. We'll also be seeing another familiar face (yes, I'm talking about Eddie) and also some weird time wraith dementor-type creatures. It looks like it'll be a very good episode, so I'm looking forward to it.

Be sure to tune in next week @8/7c to see episode 17 of The Flash.

Other things worth mentioning:
When Jesse tries to get the bracelet off, a quite scary message from Wells is spoken through it, as both a threat and a warning. He was going to do anything to get Jesse back when she was stuck with Zoom, even killing The Flash. This is what prompts the other scenes between them in the episode.

Reminder: The Flash appears on Supergirl Monday, March 28 on CBS @9/8c.

The Flash 2x15 Recap: "King Shark"

King Shark.
King Shark's back on this week's episode of The Flash and the Team gets word from Arrow's Diggle and Lyla after he escapes A.R.G.U.S.'s holding tank. Barry runs into a little bit of trouble when King Shark shows up to the West house and starts to attack his family.

We pick up right where we left off in last week's episode and Caitlyn's freaking out that she's just loss another person she loves. Whether Jay's actually dead or still alive is still in question. Cisco takes her away to help calm her down. Barry wants to go after Jay and Zoom, but Wells says that there's no way to get to the other Earth anymore because the energy they used to seal it was used so it can't be reopened. And Barry's to happy. Not only is Wells saying they can't go back to Earth-2, but he's also saying it's time for them to move on and no longer talk about Earth-2, which certainly won't be easy.

Barry's struggling to enjoy his life and forget about things. During their family game night, he's not into playing any of the games, especially the one he's best at. Iris and Joe also say that he and Wally should get to know each other better, but they also realize that something bigger is up.

However, he doesn't have to wait long to get back to his normal duties as The Flash, especially with King Shark getting out of A.R.G.U.S. So, Lyla and Diggle come to Central City to warn Barry, especially since all he said in his cell was how much he wanted the Flash dead. They warn him to not go after him, but Barry's not going to stay like a sitting duck anymore and get pushed around by Zoom's metas.

Wally's showing Barry a project he's been working on and when Barry starts to critique it, Wally gets a little upset with him, but Barry saves himself. He says that they should just start over and he'll help him figure it all out, and Wally agrees. Wally thinks Barry has other things better to do, and Barry notices that, yes, Wally does have a problem with him, but it's his jealousy of how Barry's so prominent in the house; he's in every picture. Their conversation is interrupted when King Shark breaks through the roof. (Very casual entrance.)

Barry's able to run out in time without Wally seeing him to face King Shark and he informs him that he can't get back to Earth-2. He's not happy and Barry tries to face him, but he's too small to get to him without help. He breaks a few bones and then runs off as A.R.G.U.S. shows up.

Wally's shocked at how everyone acts like it's nothing that the Flash showed up and a giant shark just crashed through their roof. And after Barry shows up again and comes down the stairs, Wally says that he's been told a lot about him, but they never said he was a coward. Joe gets mad, Wally leaves, Barry makes a comment about not even being able to solve problems as The Flash, and then Joe finally asks Barry what's been going on. He knows he shouldn't tell Iris and Joe, but he tells them about Earth-2 anyway. He talks about how him and Iris were married, how Joe hated him, how when Earth-2 Joe died, he still felt it as though it was his Joe. And he says that he was warned about how he shouldn't get emotionally attached, but he did get sucked in. He blames himself for everything that's happened - from Earth-2 Joe dying to Jay's apparent death. (Such a good scene and an awesome job by Grant Gustin with this one.) By the end of the episode, Joe speaks to Wally and tells him about Barry's past and how, just like Barry, Wally is his son. There's no difference in their relationships.

Diggle, Lyla, and Team Flash (along with A.R.G.U.S.) have a plan on how to get King Shark. Caitlyn's with them in the field because she says she needs to do this for herself. Their original plan doesn't work and gun shots aren't helping them, but then Barry takes King Shark on his own playing ground and he runs on the water, creating a whirlpool and uses his lightning to render him unconscious and they can now reel him in.

Diggle and Barry thank each other and before Diggle leaves, he tells Barry to let this experience guide him and that he understands what he's going through. He's been through it himself being a war vet. They say goodbye and all is right.

Throughout the episode, Caitlin's acting cold and harsh after everything that's happened with Jay and Cisco's worried that she may be showing signs of becoming Killer Frost. Cisco accidentally lets it slip midway through the episode that he met Caitlin's doppelgänger and how it's scaring him that she's acting exactly like her. She explains that this is a normal part of her grieving process, though, because if she lets all the pain in, she wouldn't be able to deal with it. Cisco doesn't seem that convinced, but she's shut him up for the time being. What's funny is that at the end of the episode, Barry gives Caitlin some lines to mess with Cisco and she does get him, but then she laughs so the gig is up. Cisco was definitely scared for a second, though.

At the end of the episode, Barry says that they're the ones that are going to stop Zoom, and he's not sure how, but they're not going to forget about Earth-2. And Jay's helmet is now in a case to remind them of what they're fighting for and his death won't be in vain. Now, we do get a flash of Earth-2. Jay's on the ground of Zoom's lair and for the first time, we see Zoom take off his mask, only to reveal... Jay? Well, not exactly. It's actually Hunter Zolomon, Jay's doppelgänger we met some number of episodes back. So, now things get a little dicey. It'll be interesting to see just what goes down. And now we're on a three week hiatus, so there's plenty of time for theories to develop as to what happens next!

Other things worth mentioning:
Diggle tells Cisco that his helmet could use some improvements after Cisco asks how it's treating him, so it seems like Dig may be getting a new one.
Dig's very impressed by Barry's ability to run on water.

The Flash returns March 22 at 8/7c on The CW.

The Flash 2x14 Recap: "Escape from Earth-2"

Escape from Earth-2.
It's Earth-2 part two. Barry's being held at Zoom's lair and the team is on their way to help, but they have a limited amount of time. Killer Frost is also with them to help. Back on Earth-1, Caitlin's working to perfect Velocity 9 so Jay can defeat Geomancer.

Zoom is on the hunt for Harrison Wells. And Harrison Wells is panicked because of it, especially since he's worried about Jesse and what may happen to her. After the news, Wells and Cisco release Earth-2 Barry from the room he was being held in and they don't have enough time to explain what's going on, but they need to get out of there since Zoom shows up. They hide in the Time Vault, but Zoom soon finds it. Luckily, there's a second fake wall so he doesn't see them. At this point, Earth-2 Barry is freaking the hell out because he has no idea what's going on, so as soon as they're safe, they tell him.

While Earth-1 Barry and Jesse are in their cells, Barry's trying to calm down, telling her to have faith in her dad. Jesse has some other opinions about him, though. She asks how he can trust a person who only cares of himself, but Barry counters and tells her that for the time he's known him, the only thing Wells has cared about was Jesse. He also tells her that Wells said that the only person smarter than him was Jesse. Barry also thinks the man in the mask is trying to tell them something through his knocking. Knowing what her dad said about her, Barry and Jesse work together to figure out what he's trying to tell them, and after Jesse notices that he never knocks past five, which helps Barry to figure out that it's a 5x5 code used by POWs. Using this system, they discover that he spells out Jay, but then they're interrupted by Zoom and Barry gets the crap beat out of him, but Zoom phased into the cell, which means that Barry knows how to get out.

Earth-2 Barry shows up at the CCPD and Iris isn't happy with how he's acting, but he takes her to his lab to meet with Wells and Cisco and explain everything. She's had a hard time tracking down Zoom, but then suggests that maybe contacting a metahuman that has worked with him may help. Luckily, Earth-2 Barry has some cool technology that tracks metahumans and they decide to go find Killer Frost and get her help. (The system isn't fast enough to track Zoom. He leaves no trace.) Both Iris and Barry #2 go along with them.

Caitlin ran some tests on Jay and discovered that Velocity 7 was doing more damage to his body by reacting with the harmful cells. They have plans to continue trying out new formulas, but if Caitlin's possibly hurting him, she doesn't want things to continue. When Geomancer attacks the city again and this time is causing a building to fall to the ground, Jay takes Velocity 9, ignoring that they don't know much about it yet, because he has to save the people in the building. He successfully saves everyone and gets back to STAR Labs. He also says that he felt great taking it, so this is the one that works.

Cisco, Wells, Iris, and Barry #2 find Killer Frost and a small fight ensues between them before Cisco gets her at gun point and can take away her powers at one shot. (Barry #2's run is so funny. Props to Grant Gustin for completely embodying the character of this very dorky and nerdy Barry and making him different from the Barry we're used to.) With a little convincing from Cisco, he convinces her that they need to defeat Zoom because he takes away what people love. And she agrees to show them Zoom's lair. Luckily she's around because they use her powers to get up there because he's decided to make his lair very high up.

Cailtin discovers how to save Jay's life, but before she can tell him, Geomancer shows up and crashes the party. He attacks Iris and Caitlin, but luckily, Caitlin's able to shoot him and they capture him. Bye, Bye, Geomancer. After he's taken away, Caitlin shows Jay that after Velocity 9 is in his system, his cells start to repair themselves, so now it's about making it permanent. Another problem they're facing is that the breach isn't stabilized and with a limited amount of time, they need to fix it, otherwise the part of the team in Earth-2 will be stuck there forever.

Wells is reunited with his daughter and Frost helps to break Jesse's chain, but her powers aren't working on Barry's cell's glass. Barry's not fast enough to phase through it and he tells them to just go, but then Barry #2 tells him how much they risked to get there. He did things he never thought possible because he needed to prove to himself and Iris that he could, so just as he did the impossible today, so can Barry. Barry #1 needs to believe in himself because if he tells himself he can do it, he will. (This scene was awesome.) Barry giving Barry a pep talk worked, and he got out, but then Zoom shows up because Killer Frost double crossed them. Thing is, she luckily has a change of heart and uses her powers to stop Zoom from killing Jesse and hold him off so they can get away. After all, he killed Ronnie. Barry didn't want to leave the other guy in the iron mask, but there wasn't enough time. He promised he would come back for him.

In order to stabilize the breach, Jay and Joe work together and are successful. Barry #1 warns Barry #2 and Iris to get out of Central City and they have some people in Atlanta they can stay with. Barry #1 also tells Barry #2 that what he did today was something to be proud of. He may not have super speed, but he used his own power today.

Wells and Jesse are heading back to Earth-1 with Barry and Cisco. Cisco and Jesse are the first through, but Zoom's on their tale and almost gets Wells. Luckily, he stabs Zoom and Barry's able to get himself and Wells through in time. Jay closes the breach, but it doesn't close fast enough and as it's closing, Zoom reaches through Jay and pulls him back, so now he's in Earth-2. Whether he's dead or alive, I guess we'll find out eventually.

Another really good episode and really good second part to Earth-2 tonight with an unfortunate ending. When it was happening, I knew something was up and that Jay would most likely be pulled through, but that didn't make it any better. Next week, it seems like we'll be getting an episode that's The Flash, but Jaws style. John Diggle and Lyla also make an appearance in Central City next week to warn them about their next metahuman.

Other things worth mentioning:
Earth-2 Barry isn't happy when he hears Earth-1 Barry got "frisky" with Iris. (In his mind, getting "frisky" is kissing.)
The city's struggling to deal with no Flash being around and Iris' new boss isn't happy with how much faith she has in him in her new article. So, instead, she says that she could get an exclusive with Jay, the "New Flash." After he saves the people from the building, she has what she needs.

The Flash 2x13 Recap: "Welcome to Earth-2"

Welcome to Earth-2.
Barry, Cisco, and Wells travel to Earth-2 in order to rescue Wells' daughter, Jesse. Things are very different and Barry's stunned when he comes across Killer Frost and Deathstorm, Earth-2's version of Caitlyn and Ronnie. While Barry's gone, Jay's taking over The Flash's duties when a new metahuman named Geomancer shows up on Earth-1.

All of the breaches are closed except for one, and that one is the one they're going to use to get to Earth-2. Iris, Barry, and Joe are enjoying a family dinner before he goes. Iris wants to make sure he's not doing it because he feels as though he has nothing left on Earth-1 anymore, but he assures her that's not the case at all. He loves everything about his life. So he's going to go, win, and then come home.

They're giving themselves 48 hours to do what they need to do. If they're not back by then, Barry tells Jay and Caitlin to close the breaches, even without them there. The three say their goodbyes to everyone and then it's time to be on their way. Problem is, the energy that comes through destabilizes the breach and it needs to be fixed in order for them to be able to get back.

Welcome to Earth-2. Once they get to STAR Labs, Cisco attempts to use his Vibe powers, but because the frequencies are different on the two earths, the glasses aren't working. When Barry sees himself on TV, and still part of the CSI, he has another plan. So now, the Barry we know meets the Barry of Earth-2, who is so dorky and adorable. Barry's plan is to pretend to be his doppelgänger so they knock him out for a little while.

So, we make our way to the CCPD. The Captain is actually a criminal and Deadshot's also part of the force. Iris is the one and only Detective Wes. (She looks badass as a detective.) And then Iris pulls him away and starts to kiss him, and that's when he finds out they're married. Her metahuman alert app also reads him as a metahuman, but it's brushed off as a weird glitch. They go to their house where Iris informs Barry that his mom called and he's able to here her voice again and talk to her, tell her he loves her. Amidst the funny scenes we have seen in the episode up to this point, this was a very emotional one to throw in.

We got to here Jesse L. Martin's voice when Iris and Barry went to see Joe singing, which was very nice. Earth-2 Joe hates Barry, who he calls Bartholomew, and he also doesn't like that she's a cop because she's on the frontline. According to Iris, Barry can't stand Joe either.

The gathering is crashed by Killer Frost and Deathstorm who are trying to find anyone from Earth-1 that's on the wrong Earth. Iris pulls out her gun, but then Barry stands up and says her actual name, and while it catches her off guard, it also doesn't help. When Iris rushes to Joe's aid when he's hit, Barry makes his move on Killer Frost and Deathstorm and is able to get them away for the time being.

Barry wants to be with Iris and Joe at the hospital, but Wells says that now that Killer Frost and Deathstorm are aware he's there, they don't have much time. This causes a little tension between the two, especially because Barry is going to care for them no matter what. They're still his family no matter which Earth they're on. While they're in the hospital and Joe's able to speak, he tells Iris that every song he's ever sung has been for her, and then he tells Barry to take care of her. Unfortunately, Earth-2's Joe doesn't make it.

Cisco's created a device that will help them defeat Killer Frost and Deathstorm, so Iris, Deadshot (who actually struggles with his gun at the station and is a horrible shot), and Cisco go after them. Once they find them, we meet yet another doppelgänger. This one is the one Killer Frost and Deathstorm work for, who actually works for Zoom, and that doppelgänger is Cisco's. And then, Cisco calls for The Flash, who shows up to help. He does save Iris, but things take a turn for the worst when Zoom shows up. He kills Deathstorm and Cisco's Evil doppelgänger because they disobeyed Zoom and harmed Barry, but then he takes Barry with him, and that's certainly not a good thing. We also saw some powers that Evil Cisco had that Earth-1 Cisco may learn in the future during this scene.

Meanwhile, Geomancer on Earth-1 is definitely a problem for the part of the Team that's left there. Joe wants Jay to take Velocity 6 and do something, but he's against it. After Joe leaves, he tells Caitlin why. He felt he was never fast enough, so he took Velocity 6 before, but it had side effects on him. Velocity 6 is what's killing him. After The Flash hasn't showed up for a few days, Geomancer thinks he's gone, but then The Flash does show up. Jay's version of the Flash is able to gain his speed through Velocity 7, but then it wears off, so it's not a definite fix. The combination of him and Joe allow them to scare Geomancer away. Important thing here is that we're seeing the start of the development of Velocity 7, 8, and 9.

There's one day left for Caitlin and Jay to fix the breach. And there's one day left for Barry to get out of Zoom's cell with Jesse. Next week is part two of Earth-2 and it seems that Killer Frost will be working with them to stop Zoom. Also, the actual Earth-2 Barry will be reunited with Iris and they'll both be joining Cisco and Wells, as well. Really, really great episode tonight. Very entertaining and both funny and sad in different parts. Part two should be a good one!

Other things worth mentioning:
While on their way to Earth-2, Barry, Cisco, and Wells see a glimpse of the Green Arrow and Supergirl, among other things.
Barry and Cisco are talking memorable selfies as they make their way through Earth-2. Their reactions to the previous bad guys they've met on Earth-1 are also very funny.
On Barry and Iris' Earth-2 phone, they were able to contact a few people at the click of a button that drew attention: Bruce, Hal, and Diana, AKA Batman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman.
