The Flash 2x15 Recap: "King Shark"

King Shark.
King Shark's back on this week's episode of The Flash and the Team gets word from Arrow's Diggle and Lyla after he escapes A.R.G.U.S.'s holding tank. Barry runs into a little bit of trouble when King Shark shows up to the West house and starts to attack his family.

We pick up right where we left off in last week's episode and Caitlyn's freaking out that she's just loss another person she loves. Whether Jay's actually dead or still alive is still in question. Cisco takes her away to help calm her down. Barry wants to go after Jay and Zoom, but Wells says that there's no way to get to the other Earth anymore because the energy they used to seal it was used so it can't be reopened. And Barry's to happy. Not only is Wells saying they can't go back to Earth-2, but he's also saying it's time for them to move on and no longer talk about Earth-2, which certainly won't be easy.

Barry's struggling to enjoy his life and forget about things. During their family game night, he's not into playing any of the games, especially the one he's best at. Iris and Joe also say that he and Wally should get to know each other better, but they also realize that something bigger is up.

However, he doesn't have to wait long to get back to his normal duties as The Flash, especially with King Shark getting out of A.R.G.U.S. So, Lyla and Diggle come to Central City to warn Barry, especially since all he said in his cell was how much he wanted the Flash dead. They warn him to not go after him, but Barry's not going to stay like a sitting duck anymore and get pushed around by Zoom's metas.

Wally's showing Barry a project he's been working on and when Barry starts to critique it, Wally gets a little upset with him, but Barry saves himself. He says that they should just start over and he'll help him figure it all out, and Wally agrees. Wally thinks Barry has other things better to do, and Barry notices that, yes, Wally does have a problem with him, but it's his jealousy of how Barry's so prominent in the house; he's in every picture. Their conversation is interrupted when King Shark breaks through the roof. (Very casual entrance.)

Barry's able to run out in time without Wally seeing him to face King Shark and he informs him that he can't get back to Earth-2. He's not happy and Barry tries to face him, but he's too small to get to him without help. He breaks a few bones and then runs off as A.R.G.U.S. shows up.

Wally's shocked at how everyone acts like it's nothing that the Flash showed up and a giant shark just crashed through their roof. And after Barry shows up again and comes down the stairs, Wally says that he's been told a lot about him, but they never said he was a coward. Joe gets mad, Wally leaves, Barry makes a comment about not even being able to solve problems as The Flash, and then Joe finally asks Barry what's been going on. He knows he shouldn't tell Iris and Joe, but he tells them about Earth-2 anyway. He talks about how him and Iris were married, how Joe hated him, how when Earth-2 Joe died, he still felt it as though it was his Joe. And he says that he was warned about how he shouldn't get emotionally attached, but he did get sucked in. He blames himself for everything that's happened - from Earth-2 Joe dying to Jay's apparent death. (Such a good scene and an awesome job by Grant Gustin with this one.) By the end of the episode, Joe speaks to Wally and tells him about Barry's past and how, just like Barry, Wally is his son. There's no difference in their relationships.

Diggle, Lyla, and Team Flash (along with A.R.G.U.S.) have a plan on how to get King Shark. Caitlyn's with them in the field because she says she needs to do this for herself. Their original plan doesn't work and gun shots aren't helping them, but then Barry takes King Shark on his own playing ground and he runs on the water, creating a whirlpool and uses his lightning to render him unconscious and they can now reel him in.

Diggle and Barry thank each other and before Diggle leaves, he tells Barry to let this experience guide him and that he understands what he's going through. He's been through it himself being a war vet. They say goodbye and all is right.

Throughout the episode, Caitlin's acting cold and harsh after everything that's happened with Jay and Cisco's worried that she may be showing signs of becoming Killer Frost. Cisco accidentally lets it slip midway through the episode that he met Caitlin's doppelgänger and how it's scaring him that she's acting exactly like her. She explains that this is a normal part of her grieving process, though, because if she lets all the pain in, she wouldn't be able to deal with it. Cisco doesn't seem that convinced, but she's shut him up for the time being. What's funny is that at the end of the episode, Barry gives Caitlin some lines to mess with Cisco and she does get him, but then she laughs so the gig is up. Cisco was definitely scared for a second, though.

At the end of the episode, Barry says that they're the ones that are going to stop Zoom, and he's not sure how, but they're not going to forget about Earth-2. And Jay's helmet is now in a case to remind them of what they're fighting for and his death won't be in vain. Now, we do get a flash of Earth-2. Jay's on the ground of Zoom's lair and for the first time, we see Zoom take off his mask, only to reveal... Jay? Well, not exactly. It's actually Hunter Zolomon, Jay's doppelgänger we met some number of episodes back. So, now things get a little dicey. It'll be interesting to see just what goes down. And now we're on a three week hiatus, so there's plenty of time for theories to develop as to what happens next!

Other things worth mentioning:
Diggle tells Cisco that his helmet could use some improvements after Cisco asks how it's treating him, so it seems like Dig may be getting a new one.
Dig's very impressed by Barry's ability to run on water.

The Flash returns March 22 at 8/7c on The CW.
