Supernatural 11x14 Recap: "The Vessel"

The Vessel.
In order to find a weapon to defeat Amara, Lucifer (Castiel) sends Dean back in time to the last reported sighting of the Hand of God. Lucifer has his own plan to get a hold on the weapon himself through Dean and sends him to a 1944 fated submarine ship that sunk at the Hand of God. While Dean's back in time, Sam is spending some time with "Cas."

Sam's been doing some research in history and discovered that there's a super weapon, called the Hand of God, that the Nazis had and were going to use to win the war. It was stolen, which is why they never won the war. The woman who stole it was a Woman of Letters. It was supposed to be transported to the bunker, but it instead never arrived and sunk on the USS Bluefin.

Crowley's being held like a dog in a very tiny cell by 'Cas' and he's calling him "Doggy." Such kindness showed by sweet little Luci. When asked what Crowley thinks about his rule, he says he's not strong enough, not even with his weapons. Lucifer's called away from Dean calls for Cas.

'Cas' says he can transport Dean to the time they need in order for him to be on the USS Bluefin. The plan is to get in, get the weapon, and get out. Sam's concerned about the plan and he's also concerned about Dean going back in time. As soon as things go south, 'Cas' can pull him right out. Doesn't mean Sam's still not immensely concerned. And with a touch of the shoulder, Dean's on the USS Bluefin with no Cas in sight.

'Cas', instead, shows up soaking wet and now that 'Cas' is back, Sam's trying to find some way to help Dean out. Meanwhile, Dean's found Delphine on his own and she gets on his case very quickly. He explains that he's a man of letters, but they're interrupted by the man whose clothes he stole. They find his phone, which they're so confused as to what it could possibly be, but then he admits that he's from the future and that within the hour, the ship will go down. The Captain doesn't exactly believe him though, not till he gets word of a German surface ship closing in on them.

He informs Delphine that his only way off the ship is an angel and he needs the sigils cleared off the ship in order for 'Cas' to be allowed in. Dean tells her that he needs her weapon in order to fight this war of the future, but all those on the submarine will die. She trusts him because they're both Men of Letters.

The Hand of God is made from the Ark of the Covenant and Delphine gives it to Dean to have. The man that's watching over them only wants to know when they win, and Dean tells him that they don't win till 1945. Everyone's manning their battle stations while Delphine is removing the sigils. The last one is on her chest and she hands Dean a knife and tells him to kill her. The power is within her blood, so she must die in order for it to lose its power. He doesn't do it right away and the ship is attacked.

Sam's found a spell that they could use that requires the power of an archangel, which is why it won't work... but they do have an archangel, Sam just doesn't know it. In order to help 'Cas' power up, Sam says that he can touch his soul, but then 'Cas' starts laughing. And that's when Sam finds out that it's actually Lucifer in Cas' power. Lucifer doesn't need Sam anymore, he only needs Dean. And because Sam asked so "kindly," Lucifer touches his soul anyway. Luckily, the real Cas pushes through and stops him from hurting him further. He's able to say that he chose this and Cas needs to fight back and eject him now, but it's taking him all of his strength to stop him from killing Sam, but they need Lucifer to save Dean.

The man Delphine killed earlier in the episode is actually alive and is captain of the German ship that's after them. They offer a trade, but she refuses. Instead, she takes the Hand of God and uses its power, but as she's being consumed by the power, Lucifer snaps in and snaps Dean back, where Sam immediately screams that he's not Cas. Lucifer starts to attack Dean and Sam, and was going to try to use the Hand of God on them, but it turns out it was a one time use kind of thing. And Sam used his own blood to draw a sigil the he then uses to blow Lucifer away.

Now the plan is to hunt Lucifer and get Cas back. Dean had an eyewitness experience by going back in time, and the way the ship went down was by burning and sinking, what he saw happening while he was there. Next Wednesday, the brothers are headed to a wrestling match and Lucifer's beating up on Crowley. Big reveal tonight with Lucifer outing himself, so it'll be interesting to see how they get Cas back and since there's no Hand of God anymore, how they decide to go after Amara next.
