Supernatural (Episode 10x16) Recap

Supernatural episodes are always fun when they involve some sort of religious figure, especially nuns. Tonight's episode looked good from the promo so I was interested to see exactly how everything played out. Warning: This post contains spoilers.

I would like to applaud the Visual Effects team. Definitely did a great job on the scene that took place in the couple's kitchen when the spirit left the house. They did a great job on all of the spirit scenes.

Dean's reaction to the attractive nun made me laugh. It doesn't matter what the profession is, if a woman's hot, Dean would be the first to admit it. I loved when he said that he thought she had a thing for her and Sam replied with the fact that she's married to Jesus. Only this show. I love it so much.

There was another nun, as well. The thing is, this one wasn't from present day. She had a memory of being painted by someone named Pierro, but this occurred in 1520, which means she's over 500 years old. 500 years ago, she and Pierro fell in love, but she found him cheating on her and killed him. She was convicted and burned at the stake because his death was so horrific that she was accused of witchcraft. This is why she's a vengeful spirit going after anyone who's cheated on their spouse.

Rowena definitely put the other witch in her place. She didn't hold back at all from saying how powerful her son was. I mean, he's the King of Hell. She tortured another witch from the Grand Coven for information, but didn't get the information she wanted. I do love how evil she is. I'm curious to see just what her entire plot arc in this season is. I feel like at this point we've only got bits and pieces so it's hard to tell. What was really important from these scenes was that the Men of Letters were brought back into play and I'm so excited to hear more about them. Rowena questioned Crowley as to whether the Winchesters were Men of Letters, and although he told her to let him deal with them, it looks like they'll have her in their path soon.

Dean went to confession and at first he was making some jokes, but then he got serious. He doesn't want to die. He still wants to experience things and people. He wants a life where he can love someone and be loved completely in a non-family way without the fear of them getting hurt. He wants to live a life without all the pain and suffering, where the only thing he knows is death. He's always said that he was ready to die, but he really isn't. He wants to experience people and things in different ways than before. "I believe there is a God, but I am not sure that he still believes in us." If only he knew who God was (Chuck) and how much he does believe in them...

The nun's spirit was attached to the painting Pierro did of her due to her flesh and blood actually being one with the painting. That means the good'ol salt and burn was used to get rid of it. I love the pure ghost stories on Supernatural so I'm glad we got one this week.

The scene in the Impala where Sam was talking to Dean was really good. He was saying how his brother could come to him with anything because he's his brother. Sam refuses to accept that there is no way to handle the Mark. He's determined to find a way and whether Dean thinks there is one or not, Sam will never believe there isn't. He's going to do whatever it takes to save his brother.

Tonight's episode wasn't one of my favorites, but I thought it had some good scenes. Bobby is back next week and boy, have I missed him. Next week is definitely going to deal a lot more with the Mark and Cas is back so I'm really excited for it. It looks like a good one.
