Now that Sam's trapped in the cage (again), things are about to get interesting for him, Dean, and Cas. However, Lucifer's got an idea and he's going to do everything is his power to try and get Sam to join him. After the angel smiting, there's talk that Amara might be dead, so Dean and Cas go to check that out. Let's talk about what went down. Warning: Spoilers ahead.
While stuck in the cage with Lucifer, he's doing a bit of talking to Sam, saying that he "needs" him. They're taking a trip through Sam's memories together. We start at teenage Sam (Colin Ford) studying with a girl and then that progressing to them kissing. This Sam is bold and decisive, according to Lucifer. Next stop on the trip was Sull Cemetery, where Sam and Lucifer came face to face in the Season 5 finale. Here, Lucifer says Sam had "balls," but now he's grown soft. Next is when Sam is with Amelia and Dean's in purgatory. He's not looking for Dean, though, and it's because he can't stand to lose Dean, again. That's the problem according to Lucifer. Sam would do anything to save Dean, and Dean would do anything to save Sam, and they choose each other instead of the world, so people die. In order to defeat the Darkness, he has to be ready to die and ready to watch the people he loves die, but he's not strong enough to win this one according to Lucifer; too weak to fight to fight.

So while Cas does that, Dean's trying to find Sam, only to find out from Crowley that he's in hell with Lucifer. And he's going to hell. Fun fact: the password for hell is "Camptown ladies sing this song, doo dah, doo dah. Camp town races five miles long, oh the doo dah day." He meets Billie, the reaper, who lets him in to take the long walk down. And Dean has a device that they can use on Rowena to make her Crowley's slave. Even though she had a hex bag on him that allowed him to hear, she drank the tea he gave her, which prevented her form being able to run away, so now she's under his control.
Back in the cage, Lucifer's still trying to convince Sam that they can beat the Darkness together. In order to save the world, he needs to make that big sacrifice, but he still refuses. Sam thinks that whoever wins, whether it be Lucifer or the Darkness, everyone else loses. So he's not going to be his bitch, and that really pisses Luci off, so he starts to beat him up. Problem is, Dean and Cas run by the cage when they hear the commotion, so they get transported in at the snap of Lucifer's fingers. He's even got music for the party. Lucifer threatens that either Sam says yes, or his brother dies, but Cas jumps in to save Dean, and when Rowena's spell is casted, Lucifer was touching Cas, and that certainly wasn't good because although Lucifer was gone, Cas didn't seem like himself afterwards. That's because before Rowena completed her spell, Castiel said yes to allowing himself to become Lucifer's vessel, making the spell void. And he makes it seem as though she's the token of his affection, until he snaps her neck.
This is definitely a thing I like in the plot line for this season and I'm looking forward to seeing more. Also, I am so excited to see Misha Collins play the role of the vessel of Lucifer, because in the short scene we saw him do it, he was fantastic. Definitely some good and exciting things to come, it seems.
