The Flash (Episode 1x22) Recap

The semi-finale to Season One aired tonight and I was very excited, especially since we were seeing Grant Gustin, Stephen Amell, and Robbie Amell all in one episode. Along with that trio, Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) was back, as well as Weather Wizard (Liam McIntyre). Barry sought Captain Cold's help to take on Wells, but he had some motives of his own. So, let's get into what happened.

Cisco gave everyone some more information about Wells' wheelchair, which was definitely interesting. There was a power source within the chair, a battery of some sort, that Wells used to power himself, to gain more speed, making him faster than Barry.

The accelerator was reactivated and rebuilt by Wells, but in order to do that, he needed to be inside STAR Labs, causing them to be unable to find him. He ran off with Barry chasing him, but a big problem was that Peek-a-Boo was released, going after Caitlin. Luckily, Iris was there to save her and Peek-a-Boo was quickly put back into her containment cell. It's not a bad thing that they were brought to the area where all the containment cells were. Joe heard a voice echoing through and this allowed them to find Eddie. Along with finding Eddie, Iris found the engagement ring he intended to give her.

Eddie wasn't hurt, but he did know things now that he didn't before. The way he acted towards Barry and Iris being in the same room was very skeptical. He told them what Eobard said about the two of them being related and that he was working on some sort of tube. The tube is a futuristic power source, but the problem was, it has no on or off button. If it goes off, the metahumans die, so they needed to move them. The location Barry had in mind? The famous Lian Yu, which is of course, where Oliver Queen comes into play. Barry wasn't able to get in touch with Oliver because he's in Nanda Parbat, but he spoke to Lyla who gave him the information he needed. Cecilia, a woman Joe works with at the police department wasn't exactly on board to help them, which was an issue and led Barry to seek the help of Captain Cold.

Barry sought Captain Cold's help to transport the metahumans out of the city. If he were to help him, he wanted something in return. We weren't told what it was that Barry refused to give him to begin with and when Barry responded to that, Cold said he would think about it. He wanted everything about him, all the information, destroyed. Everything. Joe was against it, but Barry was frustrated because he didn't know what else to do. Time was ticking. He's frustrated that he can't catch Wells, that he can't stop him.

Eddie was definitely avoiding Iris. He no longer was going to propose to her and Iris as upset about this. She didn't understand why, but then he told her. They don't get married, Barry and Iris do. Iris tried to convince him later on that it was him she wanted to be with, but he said that he always knew there were three people in the relationship. He thought he loved her enough that he could make it past this, but he couldn't and their relationship ended.

Cold's sister, who Cisco later named Golden Glider, was also part of this little partnership. It was definitely a little funny throw in when Cold refused to tell his sister who the Flash was before calling her a train wreck after she called him a jerk. She also tried to woo Cisco again, but he stood his guard, however hard it may be. Team Flash blasted each metahuman with a gas to make them unconscious as they traveled to their location. While their powers were originally disabled, they got them back, which definitely was not good for the team. Barry now had to face each of them all at the same time, but Captain Cold let them go. He was responsible for sabotaging the truck. Now they owe him something, so they are now part of his 'rogues'.

Barry was so upset with himself. Oliver's not afraid to do whatever it takes, and Barry thought he could do that also, but he couldn't. They're different versions of a hero. They each have their own way of doing things. I really enjoyed this scene between Barry and Joe. Barry has his own values of right and wrong that he won't blur the lines between.

The Particle Accelerator was fully charged and online, which definitely wasn't good since Wells could now use it. Wells showed up and Barry went out to face him, despite protests from the Team. Barry wouldn't allow Wells inside, and he certainly wasn't going to face Wells alone. Firestorm and Oliver Queen both showed up and all three were going to take on Wells. Oliver shot Wells with an arrow that stopped his speed, thanks to Ray's technology. Firestorm on the other hand was blasted an extremely far distance away. Wells got his speed back and he was going to kill Oliver, but Barry stepped in and pushed him off. They chased each other around for a bit of time, but then Firestorm pushed him off the building and Oliver shot him in the back with an arrow after he reached the bottom. They defeated him, so he is now in their custody.

Oliver mentioned the favor he would need from him, which will show up in season finale of Arrow tomorrow. I really loved that fight scene (though I do wish we could have seen more of that team up), and next week's finale looks fantastic. Definitely looks emotional with the scene between Barry and his mom. Should be a great end to the season, especially since Barry will be time traveling to that crucial moment. I'm looking forward to it.
