Supernatural 11x02 Recap

Form and Void
Sam's infected. That's going to make Dean quite a busy guy in tonight's episode. Not only does he have to worry about Sam, but Jenna and baby Amara are also on his list of people to help. Besides that, we've also got the townspeople that are now monsters to worry about. It's a busy one.

Dean leaves Jenna and Amara to stay with her grandmother. The little one's got telepathic abilities of her own, it seems. The baby has used this ability to drop the box of toys and telepathically taken the letter blocks to throw the words "feed me" at the wall. I don't know about you, but if my newborn started to do that, I would be pretty freaked out.

According to the also infected man Sam has met, some people change fast, while others change slowly. Those infected will always change, though. It appears Sam is one of the ones that is affected slower than others. He's hunting zombies at the same time as trying to stop himself from going mad.

Jenna's taking everything pretty well, but her grandma's freaking out. That's why Jenna calls Dean again and he heads back her way. Her grandma has called over an exorcist, but it's not a normal exorcist you would hope would be around. Crowley, dressed in his priest outfit, is sitting in the house drinking tea when Dean walks in. Definitely not the person he was thinking of.

Cas is still chained up by the two angels that took him last episode and is being tortured to no end over where Metatron is. He's in so much pain, under a curse and is being tortured at the same time. He's living a rough life right now. Hannah's come to apparently be his saving grace. Alarms have been going off and Castiel knows the reason. They're going off because of the Darkness, and everyone knows this isn't a good thing. Cas isn't stupid and he figures out that Hannah set the scene up for her to appear to save him. They want Sam and Dean, and they'll go through all forms to get it out of him, but Cas has had enough of it. They tried, but they triggered the curse enough for him to kill the two angels that captured him, but not before one of those angels killed Hannah.

Sam meets Billy the reaper in the place he's hiding out in and she has a few interesting words. Once Sam and Dean die, they're dead. There's no coming back this time because the Old Death is dead. Instead, the reapers have almost unanimously decided that whoever it is that gets to take them when they die will toss them into the "Empty." Not Heaven or Hell. The Empty is a place no one can come back from. And also according to her, Sam's biblically unclean, prompting him to go to the chapel and ask God for help; a sign; for hope. The only sign Sam gets is himself in pain. Not exactly the sign you would hope for.

Sam's really starting to lose it, but even in his madness, he has an idea, which was sparked by the whole "biblically unclean" line from Billy. That's his last resort. He finds out that holy oil can be used to cleanse someone and that's what he does. He dips cotton into holy oil and lights it on fire, holding it close to his skin. It works just as he hoped it would, burning the infection from his skin and cleansing him. He's found the cure and saves others by getting them to step into these rings of holy fire.

Jenna doesn't have a soul anymore because Amara eats souls and (Jenna) has killed her grandma. She also attempted to go after Dean, but Crowley stepped in and killed her, instead. Dean's seen the Mark of Cain on Amara, but he won't be able to kill the child. Crowley knows that and when he makes an attempt to go after her, Dean stops him. And in the short amount of time this has all happened, Amara's grown quite a bit and has left her crib on her own two feet.

Dean's back with Sam and they're back at the Bunker. They have an unexpected guest, also. Cas is back with the Winchesters and they're finally able to see the state he's in and that he is in desperate need for help. Finally!

Crowley also beats Dean to finding Amara and what better way to lure her in than with her own kind of 'candy' in a black van, AKA people whose souls she can eat.

Let's be real here, I'm most looking forward to Sam & Dean helping Cas out next week because I want him back to normal. However, I did enjoy tonight's episode, and especially thought Sam had some great scenes. Next week is the first episode we will see directed by the one and only, Jensen Ackles. I'm certainly looking forward to his directing debut. So, with that, I'll see you next week with another recap.
