Let me start out by saying how much I was looking forward to this episode. Ever since it was announced I have been looking forward to it so much. After the advanced screening was shown and people raved about how good the episodes were, that excitement only grew. So, you can imagine how happy I was that it was finally the day for it to premiere for everyone. (Reminder that spoilers are ahead)
I recently read a Tumblr post about the possible theory that Eddie could become the Anti-Flash, or Mr. Zoom. This would be if they follow the comic books. For those of you who don't know, the basic story of the Anti-Flash is that he became jealous of The Flash, wanting to imitate his powers, and in doing so, became a darker, more villainous character. This is a completely shortened, to the point, summary of his character, but to find out more about him, feel free to google him before reading on for a more in-depth description. If they did decide to go that route, we've gotten small tastes in the last few episodes, and especially this one of how that could happen. We've seen his jealousy of the Flash grow, especially since the last episode. His want to set the police on the Flash's trail is another key point of the possible development of this. His envy is growing, slowly, but surely. It's the question as to if it continues to grow that will have an impact on what he becomes.
It was so hilarious to see Iris encountering Oliver while him and Felicity were having coffee. She was absolutely head over heels for him, and I mean, who blames her? Also, Oliver and Felicity having coffee just adds to the fact that they act like a married couple and have been acting like a married couple for the longest time.
Diggle had some of the funniest lines of the whole episode. From the moment he saw Barry's powers in action, he was practically speechless. He even pondered the thought as to if everything he does is done fast, the question that's on everyone's mind.
The fact that Barry and Oliver are friends, with their differences, is great, and every scene between them was fantastic. I specifically loved the scene where Oliver was telling Barry how to be careful when going into an area, to be careful of his surroundings, survey the area, before then taunting him, saying he was going to get hit with an arrow as he ran towards him from a certain distance. He didn't take Oliver's advice, and although he caught the arrow Oliver shot, he wasn't prepared for the trap he set behind him that shot him in the back. "I heard you heal fast" was most likely not the only thing Oliver's heard about what Barry's been up to (with Felicity).
I want to take a second to just express my undying love for Felicity Smoak. She is such a loyal person, and even when asked by Dr. Wells, someone she's admired, who the Arrow was, she simply said "that is not my secret to tell." Her character is so fantastic; her loyalty, quirks, skills, and overall personality form such a great human being.
Barry went off his rocker when he faced the Chroma. He was hit with the rage, the anger, that comes from looking into his eyes. Everyone felt it. Caitlin quite possibly got the worst hit of it all emotionally when he brought up the fact that he isn't Ronnie and she needs to stop treating him like he is. I know you're all rage and saying things you normally wouldn't, but not a good thing to say, Barry.
Eddie's life was put in serious danger when Barry's rage hit him. Luckily, Oliver came in to help. However, with this scene, and Iris being present, her attitude towards the Flash seemed to downgrade, no longer being obsessive and actually accepting the fact that Eddie wants to take him in. The fight scene between the Arrow and the Flash was awesome. It was extremely cool to watch. With the help of both Team Arrow and Team Flash, Barry's rage was taken away and he was back to normal. Oh, and the fight ended in a tie. And, Chroma was caught, so the city was saved, for now, at least.
A small, but big thing, was the fact that even Oliver sensed something was off about Dr. Wells. He definitely isn't someone to be trusted.
Another BIG scene was the one in which Oliver was greeted by the mother of his child, the one he doesn't know he has. This is something that's going to definitely come up in the future, and I'm so interested to see how it plays out.
The end of the episode showed us the fact that Ronnie is still alive, and is in fact Firestorm. I'm so excited for that to come out. To see the reactions and what happens will be great. More than that, I'm looking forward to getting to see more of Robbie Amell playing the character.
The lead in to the episode for tomorrow night was Felicity asking for Caitlin's help, which will of course lead her to Starling City, and along with her would come Team Flash. The episode was fantastic, I really enjoyed it. And with that, look forward to another blog post tomorrow night!
