Arrow 4x03 Recap

Restoration.
Dig, Felicity and Oliver are after the Ghosts and Damien Darhk. Meanwhile, Laurel and Thea are going to Nanda Parbat with Sara's body to use the almighty Lazarus Pit. The intensity continues to rise in Season 4, and with J.R. Bourne (Double Down) as a guest star in tonight's episode, I was looking forward to seeing what would go down for both character journeys. Warning: Spoilers ahead.

The original three are back in action as the original three. Dig and Oliver are out trying to get information from the Ghosts, while Felicity is working her computer magic. It was nice seeing them work together throughout the episode. The "OGs... Original Gangstas," as Felicity put it, are the three people who began Team Arrow. Arrow fans have been waiting for this for a while, so I certainly enjoyed it. With it being just the three of them, Felicity suggests getting drinks, but Diggle still hasn't come around, so that plan doesn't work.

We finally see Merlyn as Ra's Al Ghul, and he's not too happy with Laurel waltzing in to use the Lazarus Pit on Sara. He also happens to be using it on himself for any little cuts he gets while practicing battle with Nyssa. But regarding using the pit on Sara, they're not sure if it'll work and what will come out of the pit. That's the reason Nyssa never asked for it to be done. Sara is dead, while Thea was dying, but not dead yet.

Diggle returns home after refusing drinks to be greeted by an agent of A.R.G.U.S. The agent lets him know that he's found out that Mina Fyad, who is working with Damien Darhk, is the one that sent the hit on his brother and she's in Star City. She's also the one brings Jeremy Tell, AKA Double Down, to Damien's attention. Double Down is a meta-human (yes, the cards literally grow from his skin) and deadly card throwing, killing someone simply by the flick of his wrist. More on him later, because Dig is very quick to go after Mina. He gets into a shooting match with her guards, but gets nowhere in the attempt. If anything, it simply let Mina know that someone's after her.

While Dig is no where to be found and actually going after his own agenda, Oliver decides to take on a robbery with only Felicity as his backup back in the lair. Turns out, the little robbery was just a ploy by Double Down to get the Green Arrow into his presence, and it sure did work. He's fast enough to avoid the high number of cards thrown at him (I lost count), but he doesn't escape without a scratch. One does get his arm before he gets away.

Felicity is done with the bullshit between Oliver and Dig... and I mean really done. Both of them nearly got killed going after criminals on their own, and tensions still remain between them, but she's going to stop it. They have to sit in the lair until they resolve the issues and that's that. No ifs, ands, or buts. She took control and both of them didn't object, because she was right. She helped transition into the scene we needed to see between them.

Oliver doesn't know what else he can do to get Dig to trust him, but Diggle doesn't know how to move forward. They're not out there together because Diggle doesn't even know if he would take a bullet for him anymore. Oliver knows what he's done wrong. He knows that he crossed the line big time, but Dig's also in the fault because he's not giving Oliver a chance to earn his trust back. He's shutting him off. Dig doesn't respond to that, and instead asks about Double Down. At the name Fyad, he's up and wants to go, but he does throw in that he's going to try and trust him again wherever they're going.

According to Merlyn, there's a man in the mountain that may be able to help Thea with her impulse to kill. This advice is only given after she yells at him for telling her to feed it, but at least he took her advice on trying to be a normal father for once right? No. Instead, she's awakened in the morning, startled by two men in her room, and kills them. They were a set up by Merlyn to attack her so that she could kill them and rid herself of the hunger to kill for a few weeks. She'll have to continue to do this since she can't kill Ra's, who originally hurt her, since he's already dead. How sweet of him. However, in order to repay the wrong he's done, he says that he'll try and restore Sara's life through the Lazarus Pit.

Felicity and Curtis had such a great scene during this episode that again threw a reference back to the beginning days of Arrow. Felicity needs the playing card analyzed and when Curtis asks why, Felicity makes a story up, similar to how Oliver did when he first asked Felicity for help.

Diggle's finally letting Oliver in on the information he has on HIVE's relationship with the death of his brother. He's kept it a secret, too, but this is the first time he was a legitimate lead, and now they'll take it on together. Here's the thing, Damien's already killed her. Dig's at a dead end again for answers, but now he has Oliver to look for answers with, so maybe they'll be able to find them together.

Curtis has discovered that the playing card is not a normal playing card and is instead made up of all the same materials that go into creating human cells. They're interrupted when Double Down shows up looking for the Green Arrow. Felicity's a badass and we already know that, but we got to see some more of it here. Kicking Double Down away from the elevator, shooting the gun, she does it all. It's in the elevator that she tells Curtis that she's working with the Green Arrow and they attempt to hide in the lair, followed by Felicity shooting the gun at him, and actually hitting him in the shoulder before he disappears.

Back in Nanda Parbat, Sara's been placed in the Lazarus Pit. She's alive again and animalistic, but she's sedated. She's now chained up and Nyssa has destroyed the Pit. It'll be interesting to see how exactly she's affected by the Pit, since for Thea, it's the urge to kill the one that nearly killed or actually killed you as Malcolm said. If that's the case, the dynamic between her and Thea will change dramatically as Thea was the one that killed Sara. I'm excited to see her character back in action and how she comes to be a member of Legends of Tomorrow.

Diggle and Oliver go to stop Double Down as he seems to be going back to Central City. Diggle gets him restrained, but he still has just enough wiggle room to throw some cards directly at him. And this is Oliver's redeeming moment for Diggle. He jumps in front of him, taking the cards to the chest instead of them going for Dig. They may not be bullets, but they still count, and it seems that the brothers are finally back to the way they should be.

We've reached the end of the episode and the original team is celebrating a victory with drinks. According to Oliver, he's been working on a surprise. What that is, we have yet to find out. Felicity's been having weird phone glitches the whole episode, and this time, the letters have spelled out "Felicity." This was a great episode that kept the energy up and next week looks awesome, as well. I'm excited to see how the events shown in the preview play out.
