Tonight's episode let us delve into the story of Firestorm a bit more than we have recently and also revealed a bit more about Barry's mom's death. (Spoilers ahead)
I really loved seeing Firestorm's backstory. We knew that Ronnie and Martin Stein had merged from last weeks episode, but didn't get to actually see it. Seeing how the accelerator actually worked to combine them was wild. Especially seeing the way Martin first reacted when he realized he wasn't in his own body. Martin is clearly the one control, and it seems as though Ronnie can have a slight bit of control when Caitlin is involved, but he's mainly the voice inside the head. He no doubt recognizes her.
I loved Cisco and Joe working together. Not only that, but it could lead to a major point in the plot. The mirror could contain photographs of what occurred that night due to silver nitrate. Joe also let Cisco in on his suspicion of Wells, who wasn't very open to it. It's a lot different for someone who he's done so much for to be told that he may not be the man he appears to be, so I completely understand Cisco's reaction. And the blood is Barry's, which I thought when it was first said to be on the wall, and which also means he most likely went back in time as The Flash in order to prevent his mother's death.
Barry had such a nice date planned and Linda threw it all away because she wanted to kiss him the whole time. I mean, come on, that was a pretty damn good date. I would have loved to do all that stuff, but to each his own, i guess. "I'm just a little...uh, worried about moving to fast." - Very smooth, Barry Allen. Nice way telling the truth, while not telling the truth. Still not sure how I feel about Linda. She's definitely a go-getter and knows what she's looking for, but I'm not sure if I like her with Barry. I'm most likely slightly bias, but I'm being honest here. Also, Iris telling Linda about how Barry had feelings for someone recently caused the perfect reaction from Barry. Iris says she doesn't feel anything for him, yet she clearly does, and she clearly doesn't want him really dating or being with anyone else. Barry telling her that he doesn't feel anything anymore, which no doubt was a lie in the midst of anger, was something that I'm really glad he did. It clearly showed that it hurt her inside.
I loved the little scene where Barry wanted to prove he had feelings for Linda by eating a hot pepper. It is official: Barry Allen does not bluff.
The Firestorm-Flash scene was really well done. I loved the effects combined. It was all very cool to watch. Also, Barry has now fought two Amells (Stephen, a.k.a Arrow, and Robbie)! I have a feeling that Ronnie and Martin actually do get separated, even though the end of the episode made you think otherwise, but I'm looking forward to Ronnie and Barry (hopefully) forming a friendship within the next few episodes, which may or may not cause some conflict over Caitlin.
Overall, it was a good episode. It seemed to mainly open things up for what's to come, such as the time travel and the separation of Martin and Ronnie, but I enjoyed it. I'm very excited for next week. It looks like a very good one!
