Hello everyone! So this is my second go around of writing this post because I was almost done and then lost everything when my page accidentally refreshed.
Today’s post is going to be about my July Favorites as stated by the title. The products are in the video below that is on my youtube channel, but I wanted to give more of an explanation as to why each has been my favorite product this month. Normally, I would do a sit down video and talk about the product, but I decided to do something different this month. You can click here to watch the video.
Urban Decay’s Naked Palette is an absolute staple in my makeup collection. Specifically this month I have been loving the color Naked. It’s a great light brown shade that can be put all over the lid and into the crease to add some color to your eyes without dealing with a ton of eyeshadow.
I absolutely love the blush in E.l.f.’s Contouring Blush and Bronzer duo. The blush is an amazing pink color with a gold sheen that brightens your face when you put it on. The Bronzer is extremely pigmented as well, but I find that it is a bit too dark for my skin tone so I usually don’t use it.
By far my most loved product this month has been my Stila Sparkle Waterproof Liquid Liner in the color Bora Bora. It’s an amazing electric blue color that is so easy to apply and incredibly pigmented. A great thing is like the name says, it is waterproof and does not budge, so it’s great for those days in the summer heat.
I always love to go for more bright and fun lip colors in the summer and Maybelline’s Vivids Collection has some amazing colors for that. I own three of them, but Shocking Coral has been my favorite to use this month. It is a coral color, as the name states, but the formula is very smooth and creamy and I love it. I also find that these lipsticks tend to stain my lips a little bit as well so although the color may not be as vibrant as it was when you put it on after a few hours, you still have some remainder of the color.
Pastels and bright colored nail polishes are an essential for me during the summer. I have been loving OPI’s Charged Up Cherry, which is a gorgeous bright coral color. Sally Hansen’s Lacey Lilac is also a great color during the summer time. It’s a pastel purple that is beautiful on the nails. Both of these polishes have smooth and pigmented formulas.
For some reason, I’ve been really enjoying highlighting my cupid’s bow this month. I think it adds to the lip color you’re wearing by drawing your eyes to it. I’ve been using Benefit’s Watt’s Up Highlighter to do this and it is a gorgeous champagne toned highlight. I absolutely love the way it catches the light and because it’s a cream product, it’ll stay on all day!
Another blush I’ve loved using this month has been one of Stila’s Countless Color Pigments in the color Finale. This product combines yellow, orange, and red toned shades, and when you swirl them together, you get a beautiful, bright color blush color that I love to wear on those days where I want more of a pop of color on my cheeks.
Maybe around 6 months ago I purchased Maybelline’s Fit Me Concealer, but it turned out to be a bit too dark for me then. However, now that I have more color in my skin and it’s a bit of a darker tone, the concealer matches and I love the way it applies. It does a great job of covering up any blemishes or discoloration and is overall a really great concealer from the drugstore.
As for music, I have been absolutely loving 5 Seconds of Summer’s new album. They have a really great sound and it’s a really good album to listen to on car rides or in the morning because it gets you pumped up for the day. I have been really loving the song Good Girls Are Bad Girls and Amnesia.
Newsies: The Musical’s soundtrack has been on constant repeat. If you haven’t listened to the music from the show, even if you haven’t seen the show, go and give it a listen. The music is insanely good and everyone on the soundtrack is incredibly talented. Watch What Happens (Reprise) and Santa Fe have been two of my absolute favorites.
Echosmith’s Talking Dreams album is something I usually listen to when I’m getting ready. It’s such a great album and I love their style. The song that I’ve been listening to a ton lately has been Cool Kids.
I saw Newsies on broadway this month and absolutely adored it. I’m so upset that it’s closing, but if you haven’t seen it, try and go see it before it closes, you won’t regret it. It’s an absolutely incredible show with great acting, singing, and dancing.
Another favorite event that happened this month was when I went to the Mets game on July 6. Besides the fact that they won, which was great, while the players were doing their pre game stretching, David Wright happened to be looking my way and I waved to him and he waved back. Wright is my biggest inspiration and he’s been my favorite player since he came up, so it was an extremely exciting day for me.
My favorite show this month is Gossip Girl. I’m only a few episodes into Season 2, but I really enjoy watching it. I’m not in a rush to watch it since the show is no longer running, so I think I’m going to take my time watching it.
That about wraps up my July favorites! I hope you all enjoyed reading this and look forward to another blog post soon.
xoxo Alexandra
